STICKY FINGERS’ NAMELESS ONION THINGY NOW “GIT-R-D’ONIONS”

More than 2,800 names submitted by customers

June 26, 2006 | CHARLESTON, SC, June 26, 2006 – Sticky Fingers RibHouse officially names its newest menu item – seasoned, crispy shoestring onion rings served with special dipping sauce – Git-R-D’onions.

Since it debuted at area Sticky Fingers in March, the onion dish was called Nameless Onion Thingy. The three owners of the Mt. Pleasant-based restaurants challenged customers to make their mark on the restaurant's menu more permanent than sauce-covered fingerprints.

The entry by John Irvine of Chattanooga, Tenn., topped more than 2,800 other names submitted by customers across the Southeast. Irvine gets his – Git-R-D’onions free as long as it's on the menu.

Co-owners Todd Eischeid, Jeff Goldstein and Chad Walldorf, who made good on a childhood pact to open Sticky Fingers in 1992, hotly debated dozens of names that made the final cut before settling on Git-R-D’onions. Some of their favorite rejects include:

Sticky Onion Strings
OooWee Onion
Friedalia Onions
Onion Smunion
Shoe String Onions
Southern Calamari
South Carol’onions
Second To N'onions
State Of The Onion
Don't Cry For Me Onion Thingy
Over-N-Onion

Sticky Fingers is sending coupons for a free appetizer of Git-R-D’onions to each customer that offered a suggestion, no matter how bad.

Sticky Fingers is a casual rib house concept with 16 locations in the Southeast -- 11 in the Carolinas, two in Tennessee, two in Florida and the newest in Savannah, Ga. The success of Sticky Fingers restaurants has generated mail order, catering and wholesale barbecue sauce business.
